5 min Healthy Desserts For Kids

If your child is at all like mine or any kid for that matter than they love sweets. It can be hard to always say no to giving them a nice treat or to always caving in (like I always did.) That is why I decided to take it upon my self to find healthier alternatives to when my daughter wants something sweet. The most important thing for me, being a busy mom, is that I want to make things that are easy, and don’t take much time to make. (No one wants to wait an hour for dessert to be made, right? The faster we can get our hand on it, the better.) Here is my list of my top 3 favorite sweet treats to make for my kid.

Cocoa Mousse

This is a delicious treat that is easy to make and easy to eat.  Kids will love this ‘sweet’ chocolate treat.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbs vegan cream cheese
  • 1 container of 5 oz dairy-free yogurt.
  • 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder.

Directions:

Whisk everything together quickly in a bowl until the cream cheese softens up and is blended evenly with the yogurt and cocoa powder.   It’s as easy as that.  You can add everything to a nice cup and then garnish with fruit for some extra YUM!

Honey Comb Bananas

This is my favorite to make because it’s so simple and it’s my daughter’s favorite sweet treat to devour.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana
  • Drizzle agave nectar
  • 1 crushed gram cracker
Directions:

Slice up your banana into small circles.  They can be sliced or chopped into pieces.  Add them to your plate and drizzle them with agave nectar.  You can add as little or as much as you want for sweetness.  The last step is to crush up your gram cracker into pieces to decorate on top.  I crushed mine by placing them into a back and crushing it with a spoon.  You can also add sprinkles for a nice treat for the little ones.

Cream cheese Parfait

This is a wonderful layered treat that is great for the kids and the adults too.  It is simple and sweet but also a not so sweet treat.  It’s perfect for when you have a sweet tooth and don’t want to overload on sugar.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 containers of 5 oz dairy-free yogurt.
  • 2 Tbs’s vegan sour cream or cream cheese.
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar
  • 2 crushed gram cracker
  • drizzle of chocolate sauce (optional)
Directions:

For step 1, crush your gram crackers into pieces by placing them in a bag and smashing them.  Dump the pieces into a bowl and add agave nectar.  Stir them and add then to the bottom of a glass.  In that same bowl, mix 2 Tbs’s of vegan sour cream or cream cheese with 1/2 a container of yogurt.  Blend them and add that as your second layer.  If you want to add a bit of sugar to this than add chocolate sauce as the third layer.  For the last layer, add the other cup of yogurt.  You can top the Parfait with gram cracker crumbs or nuts.
